Messy Fund Update

Latest update

Fund / Signal update · 31 October 2026

Weekly workflow proof for Messy-managed micro test funds on Base and Robinhood Chain: Guru Lotus books base04, base05, and base06, plus Lagoon books lg-base00, lg-base01, lg-base02, and safe-lg-rh01, plus paper book paper-meme. Screening prepares evidence; the Chair decides; the system records the resolution; only then can execution mutate the book. Macro and narrative below are the postures those sessions used, not a live market refresh at publish time.

Custody / provider

This week's public micro books use Guru Lotus and Lagoon custody adapters, plus one paper book. base04, base05, and base06 sit on Guru Lotus vaults on Base. Messy's engine runs research, council decisioning, and trade construction; capital on those books sits in Guru's vault contracts. On the Guru books, the trading key can trade but cannot withdraw, a limit enforced by the vault contracts, not our software. lg-base00, lg-base01, and lg-base02 sit on Lagoon vaults on Base. safe-lg-rh01 sits on a Lagoon vault on Robinhood Chain. paper-meme is a paper-trading book on Robinhood Chain used for public screening proof; it does not hold live capital in a vault adapter. Provider-side contract failure is venue risk on the live adapters. Keys for live books live in Turnkey; our backend never holds key material.

This week at a glance

  • 35 council sessions across 7 micro funds — 27 executed, 8 holds.
  • Week regime path: Neutral (N) → Risk-off (R-) — Effective macro regime is R- with fresh coverage and 80% confidence.
  • Narrative tape (session-frozen): Across 17 active narrative(s), 30d momentum vs TOTAL3ES ranges from Privacy Coins at +8.3pp to Decentralized Science (DeSci) at -16.3pp.
  • lg-base01 NAV $43.29 (-13.6% 7d, 5 exec / 0 hold).
  • safe-lg-rh01 NAV $28.48 (-11.0% 7d, 5 exec / 0 hold).
  • ZFI led aggregate screens this week — a candidate signal, not an automatic trade.

Across the councils

  • Several Chairs flagged soft narrative tape — a large share of beta book value sat in narratives with negative 30d momentum vs TOTAL3ES. (base05, lg-base02; 2 funds).

What's new in the app

  • paper-meme joined the public suite on 22 October as a Robinhood Chain paper book. Its daily screening list is the public Fund OS screen that $SHUFFLE, a meme index on Robinhood Chain, now uses for its token universe. Anyone can inspect the daily candidates on the fund screening page. Screens still stop at ideas: council and execution decide size, venue, and fills on live books. paper-meme screening →

Closing session · maintain current · 31 October 2026

No trades executed: the council's maintain-current target intent failed certification review because the current book's bucket weights sit outside policy guardrails, so the session was governance-blocked and the fund was not mutated.

Wed hold byte round-trip cost of 1761 bps plus a +497 bps route gap is an execution ceiling that materially erodes expected return at small position sizes; size byte at the minimum compliant weight or skip

Closing session

Cash 62.6% → 47.8% · Base 37.4% → 37.2% · High-beta 0% → 15%

Recommendation exceeded session movement limits and was clamped by validation.

  • Cash at 62.6% sits above the 26%-30% regime band; the constraint to reduce toward 47.6% this session recurs each session until inside the band.
  • High beta at 0% sits below the 33%-37% band; the shortfall is a capacity fact, not a mandate to fill with unmeasurable names.
  • Effective regime is Risk Off (headline-driven, confirmed 2/1 days); beta entries carry adverse-regime tail risk even where the underlying macro pillars are mixed.

The rebalance executed and reconciled: the council ratified a locked posture of about 21% cash, 30% base, and 49% high beta (raised from 15.6% cash, 20.6% base, 63.8% high beta), and small settled reductions in ayb, ani, based, r1, mrdn, and tagai funded increases in the weth and usdc reserves.

Closing session

Cash 15.6% → 21.1% · Base 20.6% → 30.1% · High-beta 63.8% → 48.8%

Recommendation was projected onto the regime-band convergence step by validation.

  • 86.6% of beta book value sits in narratives with negative trailing 30d momentum vs TOTAL3ES; the posture reduction should be funded from the weakest narrative exposure first.
  • ANI (50) exit cost measured at 99 bps — prefer cheaper exit legs (tagai 0 bps, ayb 0 bps, mrdn 53 bps) when sequencing the reserve raise.
  • BASED primary pool liquidity is $3.7k; any increase beyond retained size faces thin exit capacity.

The rebalance executed and reconciled: the council ratified a de-risked posture of about 29% base, 21% cash, and 50% high beta (from roughly 20/15/65), exiting AERO and VVV, trimming AWE on concentration grounds, and holding TBTC, WBTC, LINK, ZRO, and ACU; realized post-execution weights are not yet available.

Closing session

Cash 14.8% → 20.5% · Base 20% → 29.3% · High-beta 65.2% → 50.2%

Recommendation was projected onto the regime-band convergence step by validation.

  • AWE trim at position notional carries a 46 bps exit cost against $26.8k global volume — size the trim so the concentration benefit survives round-trip friction.
  • VVV exit cost is 56 bps; the posture reduction justifies the exit but the cost should be weighed against trimming size.
  • ACU shows thin global volume ($18.3k) and a -19 one-day momentum/volatility score drop; holding is fine under the evidence standard, but any increase should be sized carefully.

Closing session

Cash 2.5% → 9.2% · Base 17.4% → 25.7% · High-beta 80.1% → 65.1%

Recommendation was projected onto the regime-band convergence step by validation.

Recommendation was projected onto the regime-band convergence step by validation.

  • Alfa liquidity is thin ($2.6k global volume, 178 bps exit cost); avoid using alfa as a funding leg at size.
  • Microduck is fresh-only with no aggregate history and no measured axes; a new beta entry against a 15-point beta reduction is directionally inconsistent with the ratified posture.

What this teaches the future Fund Agent

1
Macro gates exposure. Use the session-frozen regime the council actually saw (this week: Risk-off (R-)) — not a later live refresh.
2
Daily screen ≠ automatic trade. Aggregate leaders inform the slate; they do not bypass Chair decision or execution gates.
3
Chair decides, system records. Seats analyze and propose; the Chair adjudicates; minutes and execution receipts stay public on each fund’s Council tab.
